...but I can if I want to. However, if you are listening to tax payer funded Armed Forces Radio Rush is the only voice you can hear.
Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) tried to changed that with his Amendment to the DOD Authorization Bill that would have required AFR to follow its charter and have balanced programming. Notice I said, "would have." The amendment was defeated, 44-54.
If that number sounds familiar, it should. The vote went straight down party lines.
So, there will be no Ed Schultz Show on Armed Forces Radio. Even though there should be. For the same reason that I can listen to Rush Limbaugh if I choose to - freedom.

True, his views might be different, but as a government funded network I think that opposing viewpoints need to be voiced. Now, if this was a private station then they could play whatever they want, but it's not.
Another tired re-hash of "the Fairness Doctrine." If military personel TRULY want to listen to Liberal programming, there are still many media outlets they have access to, not to mention the Internet, upon which many soldiers publish personal blogs while in the field. Some of those blogs are critical of Bush and the Military. .I seriously doubt the liberal soldiers are actually deprived.
You have missed the point entirely. This isn't about fairness this is about expenditure of tax dollars. Why should I have to pay for Rush Limbaugh or others? If I am going to pay for Limbaugh then I want to pay for Ed Schultz too. Or is an opposing viewpoint a little bit too much for some conservatives to handle?
You may brand me unpatriotic...now.
Isn't it funny that many Republicans jumped up and down and screamed for equal time from 1993 - 2000 but now that it is the other way around they poo poo the idea?
